Desolation: Stories [book review]

Review on Amazon   Entertaining short stories ,  November 22, 2015 By  Charles Miske Verified Purchase ( What's this? ) This review is from:  Desolation: Stories (Kindle Edition) Slightly dark view of a doomed future is a minor connecting thread for this assortment of short stories. Read while on the train commute and certainly worth the entertainment. A minor gripe is the too frequent editing errors, misplaced words, extra words, wrong words. I had this in my collection for quite a while, having gotten it for free somehow or other. It might have been a freebie of some type. It is in Kindle Unlimited (not Prime though), so if you are interested in getting it free that's one good option. Otherwise it's quite expensive for a short collection of short stories. I read it on the train between Lehi and Salt Lake City Utah. It's about a half hour ride at both ends of the work day. The stories were suitably dismal and depressing. There is...

Elbrus My Waterloo in Paperback – Poll

[reblogged from 2012] I have had quite a few people telling me that they don’t have a Kindle, or don’t “do ebooks” or some such, and a bright and shining moment in that dialog is that I quickly imagine that I’d be able to sell a handful of paper editions of “Elbrus My Waterloo”. Sadly the discussion quickly devolves into being asked to email them a copy. I myself have never asked an author friend for a free copy of their ebooks, so I really don’t understand that. As well, the Kindle version is only $2.99 and I did put up the alternate e-reader instructions last week, if the sole excuse was “can’t afford a  Kindle “. Kindle ebook Elbrus My Waterloo In the interest of pleasing those who seriously do object to reading anything but paper, I looked up some details on publishing “Elbrus My Waterloo” as a paper edition on a print as needed basis, which is the only economically feasible option for small self-publishers like myself. Amazon has a relationship with a paper printer whi...

Elbrus My Waterloo Kindle Ebook on Amazon

[Reblogged from 2012] Elbrus My Waterloo is my most recently published ebook on Amazon, and in only a few days of sales, over a weekend, I’ve gotten two excellent 5-star reviews. That feels really good, I have to say. This book is available for Kindle, and if you have Prime, is free in the Kindle Lending Library. Having climbed on Elbrus three times without success had caused me a few down moments here and there. I wasn’t sure what I wanted out of my training. I got cold easily, wearing thicker gloves than usual on a wintery hike in Colorado. But I made it through “Elbrus my Waterloo”. I came out of those down moments with a new strength, a new purpose, a new set of goals. Tram station below Elbrus “Failing is a sign you’re working hard, taking chances, riding the line..and along that line you’ll find all the really great things that other people who won’t ride that line can only dream of.” — Elbrus, My Waterloo I’m preparing to climb on Aconcagua next, and after, maybe ...

Summit Success, The First Week

[originally posted 09-18-2014] Bottom Line? I have had the best "organic" sales ever for a new book release. By "organic" I mean not using under the table tactics and techniques to artificially inflate sales statistics in the hope of attracting new buyers or getting a feather in my cap to wave in the air for marketing purposes.
